Electric Picnic needs creative recyclers!

Our friends at the Electric Picnic festival in association with the European Recycling Platform wants you unplug your talent using electrical waste!

Building on the success of last year’s 2010 Electric Art Competition, European Recycling Platform urge all budding designers, artists, industrial engineers and enthusiasts to take part in the Picnic’s electrical waste sculpture competition.

Winning creations will be made entirely from electrical waste, and will feature in the renowned Electric Picnic Art Trail for the duration of the festival. The winner(s) will also receive 2 x VIP Tickets.

Our Picnic pals want you to think about Cultural Iconic Structures for inspiration, using electrical waste; you will bring the creation to life … think of The Spire constructed out of plugs or a toaster Taj Mahal!

There are (3) categories to the competition; there will be (1) winner per category:

Local: Bring to life an iconic local structure that will put your town on the Art Trail map!

National: The Great Iconic structures of Ireland – spoilt for choice!

International: Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Big Ben… the list is endless – you decide!

The EP organizers want  like YOU to design a Local, National or International Iconic Structure made entirely from electrical waste. Start thinking Electric! Your design must include Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and/or used batteries and inspire festival goers to recycle their electrical waste.

Get inspired and submit your entry by the closing date Wednesday 27th July. EP will then present a gallery of shortlists online and the esteemed ERP & Electric Picnic judging panel will select the overall winner.

The winning designs will be built by you off site, you/your team must be available to build your winning iconic structure between Tuesday 9th – Sunday 28th Aug, and install in Stradbally Estate from Monday 29th – Thursday 01st Sep. Winners will be mentored by renowned artist Christy Collard.

For further details, visit the website below. The deadline for entries is July 27th 2011.
